I don't have a strong feel for the older 5.7s...

just a speculation, I would have expected a tad more if I were the owner...

who invested the Benjamins...

Talk to PCMFORLESS.com (chips@pcmforless.com)... ask for Alvin.

He can give you a much better eval of the car.

If he tries to sell you a tune, it is NOT because he is trying to line his wallet... worked with him for 2 + years... he's not like that.

I'd say your numbers are good considering you're in an auto and stall setup on a motor that isn't notorious for making high HP in the first place. Could be a bit higher but auto equipped cars are always funny on the dyno.

On another note, NICE CAR! Those 92 GTA's are even more rare than the 91's (I believe they only made something like 216 GTA's in 92, built to order). Post up some pics!

Wow...that sounds super rich. I'm suprised you werent fouling plugs. Yeah I would say running that rich you would be way down on power.

bigger stall(think 3200) bigger gears(3.73) and a PCMforless tune and you will be runnin a good amount quicker ;)

w/different cam, heads, and intake... dunno why they wouldn't make good numbers...

still a SBC in there...

but I have not seen anything short of heavily mod'd older engines making big numbers, so I can't argue...

course this is pretty heavily mod'd...

That's the catch: Different intake. With the runner setup of the TPI system, you're not going to make big HP numbers.

You should be at a little more hp though. I completely missed the fact that you're running so rich.

can always throw a ram jet on there and solve the intake problem tho.

Thanks for the suggestions guy's.... I have already ordered a Accell lower base and ASM ss runners.....this should help that old TPI pick up a few hp, also how do i talk to PCM for less "alvin " I think..? Also I already have a "Moates" adapter and am currently running atmel 29C256 flash proms...can he do a "burn" on one of these and just send it to me? thanks GTA.... :)

Hi , all

I just found this site ....very nice!! :)

I would like your opinion on some mods that i have done and the results they have made, I have a 1992 GTA 5.7 auto 2200 verter, 3.23 gear. I just installed a set of AFR heads ( 180 ) street heads new cam 211/218 .488 ink, .495 exhaust, along with 1.6 ratio CC full RR , also SLP 15/8 headers , and a home burnt prom, I went to a dyno and i only got 270 RWhp and 360 rw TQ and it made 340 HP at the fly wheel and 460 ft TQ flywheel , do these # seem kind of low to you?? it still runs the STOCK TPI set up, for now any way...also I'm still running the stock Dual cat set up as well and the stock muffler too, would these 2 stock pieces hold me up so much?? according to a G-tech pro i went 13.6 @ 107 MPH with a 2.1 short time...I know that its a g-tech # but at least its a base line to go by.....any opinions?? thanks all ....GTA :) BTW the wb o2 says the run started out at 11.66 and by 4400 rpm it was in the 9.9 range and finnaly bottomed out at 8.2 to 1 ...I have since then pulled fuel out and its better but i have not been back to a dyno to see my results , i'm getting a LM1 WB meter any way so i can keep tabs on this any way...Maybe my tune is not correct for the changes i have made...would a bad tune take so much HP away?

I actually think your HP/TQ is pretty good.

You definately need a set of headers and a good flowing exhaust as your next step. I recently did a Vette from atlanta with a crappy catback.. The car only did something like 250rwhp.. a few weeks later the guy emailed me saying htat he put exhaust on the car and it now dynoes 320rwhp.

After that your next hang up will be in your intake. The stealth ram is a good compromize on those cars. Cheaper alternatives can be had but if you stay with the STOCK STYLE (who cares about how it flows, its the runner length) the car will not make alot of HP.

IF you want to get our tuning you can order a "over the net" package.. With it I take your datalogs and continue to send you new binarys until your happy with it. The package cost $75 with unlimited updates for your setup.

Thanks PCM...

I do realize that the TPI is very limited but I like to try .... :D and be different... ha, I do have SLP headers they are the 1/58 with Air...and they dump into a stock dual cat assembly then on through a stock 92 Muffler and tail pipe assembly, I did see that edelbrock makes a replacement for my car...( I do not want something very loud ) * old guy * :D also can you post a link to your page where i can order this tune?? thanks GTA......

You built a nice modest setup that sounds like it would be alot of fun on the street. With a little tuning your probally going to see 285 or so. Didn't you say you had a wideband?

Heres a link, its the second to last item on this page.

my buddys got that same set up on his 87 iroc(you guys should remember him from the last dyno day). the slp headers and eddelbrock cat back. its alittle tame for me but he really likes it.
