Hey would this work with out chip? Cuz i bought one and i cant seem to load the tune alvin sent me onto the chip. It says the chip is still blank after i erase it. I got it to save one time but the car was barely idling and was running so rich that it smoked everywhere. I was gonna order it from moates.net but he has them on back order. If its this prgrammer that i bought from ebay then ill get that one alvin has on his website for 75 bucks.

The chip should be blank after you erase it. That is what erasing the chip is doing. I have the moates.net usb burner and have not issues with it. I have no experience with the burner you bought.

Is it possible the problem is not in the chip? Is this a new motor? Maybe bad O2's dumping fuel? I had that problem a time or two.

yeah it could be in the o2's Im gonna change them. But now that i have messed with this burner my car wont even idle.

What do you mean by that? Did you have a differnt program and it would run on it? and now it wont with the new program?

yeah i had a different program with this burner. The software on moates.net wont work with this burner. The tune alvin sent me wont work with this software that was included with the burner.

I would say your burner is the problem. If it cant read a simple binary file, it has issues. Just have Alvin burn it to a chip and send it to ya, until you can get your burner working properly or you can get a new one.

order the burn 1 from moates... thats what i use and its great... not a single problem...

Yea, I wouldn't even want that burner. Buy something that has good feedback behind it. If alvin has one, I'd get that as you know any files he sends you, will be compatible with that burner. Hopefully you get something figured out.

Yeah I've heard alot of problems with the wilhelm burner. I would just wait around for the moates burner. Its the only one I haven't been able to break in less than a year.

I got it to work. I bought another blank chip and tested it again. I had to set the hex offset to 8000.
